Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 104120
Bengali (bn) Dictionary for integration
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:27:46 UTC
Please include Bengali dictionary in upcoming OOo version. It seems someone has already made an extension [0] based on our source package [1]. Please let me know required steps. Thomas, please proceed as usual
We will submit updated version of the Bengali (bn) dictionary package by next week. Please let me know if there is any deadline earlier.
tl->itsjamil: No need to hurry. Deadline for OOo 3.2 is over and the next official release is OOo 3.3. And for 3.3 feature freeze is currently scheduled for late March.
itsjamil->tl: From the URL below, you will get Bengali (bn) package - containing more then 300k words. In OOo it should work for both Bengali-Bangladesh (bn_BD) and Bengali-India (bn_IN) locales. http://sourceforge.net/projects/bengalinux/files/bengali-spellcheck/hunspell-bn-0.04.tar.bz2/download
tl->itsjamil: Thanks! It will still take some while before the next dictionaty integration round. So please be patient.
Because of the acquisition the old legal review process that needs to be past before accepting dictionaries within our source code base is no longer existent. We need to wait for a new legal review process to be set up. Therefore this issue can not be addressed for OOo 3.2.1 or OOo 3.3. Setting target to 3.x. Note: It is still perfectly fine to create a dictionary extension and upload it to the repository for public download.
tl->mh: please take over for the time being. Thanks!
I'm adding this comment to all open issues with Issue Type == PATCH. We have 220 such issues, many of them quite old. I apologize for that. We need your help in prioritizing which patches should be integrated into our next release, Apache OpenOffice 4.0. If you have submitted a patch and think it is applicable for AOO 4.0, please respond with a comment to let us know. On the other hand, if the patch is no longer relevant, please let us know that as well. If you have any general questions or want to discuss this further, please send a note to our dev mailing list: dev@openoffice.apache.org Thanks! -Rob
