Script (crash when create new page style)

I'm typing up a script for a play I'm stage managing (I work in theatre), and when I try to create a new style for the page I'm working on, Open Office crashes. I am trying to create a new style for the page so that when I type up other scripts, I can use the same formatting making it easier and quicker in the future. I am also trying to create the new style so I can use different headers on different parts of the script (I would like a different one for Act 1 and Act 2, but I don't want one on the first page). I have been hi lighting the selection for the new style, then selecting the "styles and formatting" button on the toolbar, going to the "page style" section, and clicking the "new style from selection," which is when it crashes. It won't bring up the dialogue box for me to enter a name and save it, and it won't let me do anything else in the program; it just freezes. (I'm not sure how else to describe this and I tired to be as detailed as possible, so sorry if its not enough information!)

So it's a freeze (application unresponsive), not a crash.
Cannot reproduce Vista. Will have to test on MAC OSX...

I was able to recreate this problem with the attached document.
In addition to hanging on export as pdf this document also hangs after the following three steps:
- ctrl A is pressed to select
- backspace is pressed
- ctrl Z is pressed

Furthermore, I was able successfully export this document after removing the "References" section from the document provided.

The problem on ctrl Z also seems to occur only if "References" section is selected.

getting rid of value "enhancement" for field "severity".
For enhancement the field "issue type" shall be used.

Attempted to recreate the bug with latest version of Open Office but could not. Did this on Win7 with no errors. Tried other Styling features and all worked fine.

I used the attached file from the original post as well as some created by myself and the Page Style feature never froze.

However, upon creating a new document, the previously created style is not part of the list of available page styles. Upon further testing I found that the new style features save on .odt format files and not .doc(x).

This may be the main problem from the original post: suggest using .odt files when creating and using Style and Formatting features.

Bug 122220

https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=122220

The comments in this section helped to verify my testing on .doc vs .odt formats.

OOo 4.0.0 AOO400m1 (build 9700) rev 1479897. Windows 7
I don't replicate the freeze.
1. I download the file, whose name is "RT Script attempt 2.odt".
2. I select some text (I tried the first 4 lines. I also tried non-centered lines later in the document).
3. I go to Format | Styles and Formatting | Page Styles icon | New Style from Selection icon
4. Type in the name of a new style ("Foo")
-- nothing bad happens.
5. I save the document as an ODT file. I save it again as a DOC file (Word XP/2000/etc)
6. close the program, open it, open the file and...
7a. When I open "RT Script attempt 2 modified.odt" and go to the Page Styles icon, the list of styles includes "Foo"
7b. When I open "RT Script attempt 2 modified.doc" and go to the Page Styles icon, the list of styles does not include "Foo"
