Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 126023
Backgroud colours of frame styles inconsistent between AOO 4.1.1 and AOO 4.2
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:55:35 UTC
Created attachment 84398 [details] Sample document In a mixed environment with OpenOffice and LibreOffice exists an incompatibility concerning background colours of frames: (1) Opening/saving a document created with OpenOffice using LibreOffice causes background colours of all frame styles to change from "No fill" to "Blue classic". The attached sample document is created using OpenOffice and saved using LibreOffice. (2) Opening sample document with AOO 4.1.1 is bo problem (see screenshot 1). Background colours of all frames are treated as "No fill" correctly. (3) Opening sample document with AOO 4.2 causes background colors of all frame sytles to be treated as "Blue classic" (see screenshot 2). As the handling of background colours has changed between AOO 4.1.1 and AOO 4.2 (see attached screenshots), I'm not sure wheter this is an incompatibility between OpenOffice and LibreOffice or between AOO 4.1.1 and AOO 4.2. Steps to reproduce: (1) Open attached sample document with AOO 4.1.1 (see screenshot 1) (2) Open attached sample document with AOO 4.2 (see screenshot 2) The behaviour described is very annoying because data integrity is affected by using different releases of OpenOffice or by using OpenOffice and LibreOffice.

I do not understand your report, because I do not find where there is a "frame" in the sample document. Please change the sample document, that it only contains one frame which shows the problem, and make the document as short as possible. The change in the dialog is intended. The goal is to unify the fill properties of all objects. Therefore a frame in Writer has got the ability to have not only color and bitmap background but hatching and gradient too. Which version of LibreOffice do you have used? You might have been run into https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86578

The problem can be validated by showing the properties of a frame style itself using AOO 4.1.1 and AOO 4.2 (see screenshots). If AOO 4.1.1 shows "No fill" AOO 4.2 should show "None". Actually AOO 4.2 shows "Color / Blue classic". The document has been saved using LibreOffice 4.3.5. I'will try to create an additional sample document with a frame instance.
May i know in which platform this issue occurs?I mean in a specific platform such as Linux,Windows,Mac this occurs or in every platform this occurs?
(In reply to buddhieash from comment #5) > May i know in which platform this issue occurs?I mean in a specific platform > such as Linux,Windows,Mac this occurs or in every platform this occurs? The problem occurs on OS X at least. I'm not sure whether other platforms are affected but it seems so.
Tests performed with OS: Windows 8.1 LibreOffice: 5.1.2.2 Apache OpenOffice: 4.1.2 I could reproduce the issue with the document attached. 1. Open the document in AOO -> No color is selected 2. Open with Libreffice -> Blue sky is selected I tried reproduce from scratch-> no success 1. Create a new document in Open Office 2. Insert a frame with background -> no fill 3. Save the document 4. Open the document in LibreOffice 5. Open the Area of the frame 'Logo'. Colour -> none So I did some tests with the document attached in the issue: Test 1 1. Open the document with AOO and insert a frame with colour no fill 2. Open in LibreOffice -> no colour is selected Test 2 1. Download again the sample document 2. Open it in AOO and edit it 3. Open the document in LibreOffice -> now open the Area of Logo Frame -> no colour is selected now I think it will be useful provide the sample document before open it in LibreOffice in order to see if have a special configuration. I observe that in the frames attached when a colour is set, it's not displayed so something seems to be corrupted in them.
Machine Configurations: OS: Mac OS X 10.11.3 Apache OpenOffice Versions 4.1.2 & 4.1.1 LibreOffice Version 5.2.2.2 I was able to replicate the issue with the provided file using the steps provided, however I did not get the "Blue sky" color in LibreOffice when I opened it; having No Fill selected in AOO and opening it in LibreOffice showed No Fill. However, saving it and reopening in AOO 4.1.2 resulted in the background being "Blue Classic." I also got the same issue reported for 4.1.2 with 4.1.1. Both versions had the same No Fill -> Blue Classic issue when being opened and saved in AOO, then opened and saved in LibreOffice, and then reopened in AOO. Using the methods provided, I tried to replicate the issue with other test cases: A. Method 1 1. Creating and saving my own test documents in AOO 4.1.2 2. One file is one page with two pictures and one frame 3. Another file is the same length as the sample document, with a picture in the header of each page and random text throughout the document 4. Opening the documents in LibreOffice and changing the picture and frame backgrounds from No Fill to an arbitrary color then back to No Fill, and then saving it 5. Reopening the documents in AOO 4.1.2 and checking the background colors of the frames and the pictures B. Method 2 1. Modifying the sample document provided by Thorsten with additional photos and frames in AOO 4.1.2 2. Opening the modified document in LibreOffice and checking the background of the the images and changing the colors of the frames on pages 2, 4, and 7, and then saving it 3. Opening the modified document in Apache OpenOffice 4.1.2 and checking the background colors of the frames and pictures Method 1 did not yield any issues; both documents' frames and pictures were the accurate background colors in both Apache OpenOffice and LibreOffice. Method 2 did yield the issue reported. In the frames and pictures I added to the sample document were background colors of Blue Classic. The attached screenshots show the No Fill background in LibreOffice and then Blue Classic in AOO. Attached are the test cases I created, along with the modified sample document. The sample document may have some issues opening in AOO now, as it no longer opens on my AOO but opens and edits fine on LibreOffice. Not being able to replicate this issue on another document leads me to believe something is corrupted in the sample document provided.
