a screenshot example of faulty line spacing

Sometimes OpenOffice word processor seems to have to idea what single-spaced paragraph format is supposed to look like. I have attached a screen shot of a document that I was typing to show you the massive spacing that "single spacing" sometimes results in. This is obviously not correct. I even tried a few different fonts in case it was just some font that adds a bunch of extra unwanted space, but that does not seem to be the issue. I hope you can get to the bottom of this so that formatting word processing documents can become more intuitive and controllable. Thanks!
~Adam~

ps. I tried 3 times to attach a file as an example, but I see no evidence that it actually uploaded. Did it work? How would I know?

I'd love to receive some kind of update about why I still cannot control the line spacing in an open office word document after all these versions, and if there is some way for me to make it work properly. It is actually a big deal to not be able to control how many lines of text fit on a page.

I had great difficulty narrowing down what was causing the line spacing issue. The steps to reproduce are as follows:

     1. highlight bulleted text
     2. navigate to the format option in the toolbar
     3. select paragraph
     4. set line spacing to single

I was unable to replicate this error with any other line spacing setting or by using the line spacing button in the toolbar.

This bug appeared in two out of my fifteen attempts. I changed the amount of text highlighted, the number of other processes running on my computer, the font size and type, and bullet formatting, but there was no discernable pattern.

The bug can be reproduced with the following STEPS:
1. Go to Lorem Ipsum and generate a list or select any list you have from another document
2. Copy that list (Select All + CTRL-C)
3. Start OpenOffice Write
4. Click on the Bullets button to start a list
5. Paste the list you copied
6. Select the whole list
7. Go to Format/Paragraphs and select Single

RESULT:
The space between the first two lines of the list is larger than between the other lines below.
But, what is actually happening is that when selecting the first bullet, a specific format is set: Space is added below lines. See screenshot here: http://http://screencast.com/t/Vnmh0nX
And then, after pasting another list from another document than OpenOffice, the formatting is reset and different from the first line.

-> So the actual bug is that while creating lists with copy+paste, the formatting is not kept for the whole list.

IMPACT:
This bug is the most visible when the user pastes another list has no formatting whatsoever.
If the pasted list uses 1.5 spacing, because the first line has set a specific space under it, the difference between lines will not be that visible.

WORKAROUND:
To resolve this, the user has to:
1. Go to Format/Paragraphs
2. Remove any spaces between line: before and after
3. Select Single spacing again
Result: the spacing should be the same and correct.

Here is a video reproducing the issue and the workaround: http://screencast.com/t/wnikRzc0N

REFERENCE TOOLS:
I also verified other word processing software:
* Google Docs - going through the same steps: all the lines of the list will have the same formatting so it’s not confusing for the user.
See screenshot here: http://screencast.com/t/nOzjY2TTwGNe
* Microsoft Word - going through the same steps: the bullet selected at first goes to the end of the list and remains empty, and the pasted list comes at the beginning of the list with a different formatting but all the lines have the same formatting.
See screenshot here: http://screencast.com/t/nOzjY2TTwGNe

ENVIRONMENT:
I tested on Win 10 Professional and MAC OS X El Capitan; v 10.11.6
* Open Office version 4.1.3
And MAC OS X El Capitan; v 10.11.6
* Open Office version 4.1.1

Reproduction Attempts and Steps:
Attempt 1:
Open OO 4.1.3
Select File New
Select font
Center heading
Hit Enter several times
Select Bullets
Start making a list
No issues with single spacing
Attempt 2:
Open a Word document that has a single spaced list
Copy list
Paste list into OO (see below)
Your Top 5 Themes
Learner Relator Individualization Achiever Developer
Single spacing between title and row; however, my list is now in one line (row 2)
Attempt 3:
Open another Word document with a list that is not single spaced
Copy and paste the list into this OO document
Copied list is still in a list, however, it does look to be more than single spaced, by highlighting the text, and looking at the formatting, it kept the line spacing of the original list. I was able to update the line spacing from 0.8 after paragraph (lines) and now it displays as single line spacing.
No issue
Attempt 4:
Copying a list from another source, web, word doc and pasting it into a new OO document does display some erratic behavior.
Copying Lorem Ipsum list into a new OO document after the 1st, 3rd, 8th, and 13th lines the spacing was 1 ½ spaces but after the other lines it was still single spaced . . . very odd
Attempt 5:
I copied another type of list from another word document that had single spacing with the last line having sub-bullets (indented again). When copied into a new OO document, the heading was displayed on the initial OO bullet I input. The actual bullets from my original document were left aligned with a gray box after the bullets before the text began. The sub-bullets were indented much further than the original document had them indented, also with the gray box after the bullets.
I find it also interesting that there is a bullet from my original list at the bottom of my copied list.
I was able to recreate the inconsistency of spacing on several attempts, however, more time would be needed to attempt to determine more specific steps.

Impact: This bug is visible when copying and pasting lists into OO. I was using a HP Envy running Edge.

The first list reproduces bug from Comment3, the second list is the original bug

Tested platform: MacOS Sierra, v10.12.6, Apache OpenOffice 4.1.3, 4.1.1

The original bug was not reproducible (both on 4.1.1. and latest 4.1.3) i.e When the paragraph format is set to single spacing, and the text which is typed has always single spaces correctly (tried for bullet lists and also normal text paragraph). I did not see that the space between just the first two lines are different to the following line (This is the second list in the screenshot attached)

I would like to add to Comment3. The issue is that ‘Whenever a list without any spacing is copy+pasted (I tried copy pasting from Lorem Ipsum list generator), the first two lines is differently spaced than the following lines’. The same steps in Comment3 can be used to reproduce the bug. (This is the first list in the screenshot attached)

Some follow up tests:
- Tried with and without bullets: Copy pasted a text paragraph. The spacing remains the same for all the lines. So, the issue is that when selecting a bullet, a specific spacing is set for the first line (comes from the first bullet just selected), and then after copy+paste, the spacing for the first two lines remains and single spacing is applied from the following lines.
- Tried different types of bullet and numbering to check whether a particular type only adds a spacing at first. The bug was reproducible with all types of bullets and numbering
- Checked for different paragraph style, fonts and sizes, and was reproducible for all of them
- It happens also when you select the list and change the spacing to 1.15, 1.5 and 2.
