Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 29418
Spell check does not suggest special characters
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:29:46 UTC
Use "seance" and "cliche" as examples, though this applies to all words with special characters in your dictionary. When you spell the words "séance" and "cliché," your spell check marks them as spelled correctly. When you spell them as "seance" and "cliche," without their accent marks, they are listed as incorrect during your spell check. The problem is that your spell check does not suggest the correct spellings of the words! You would expect "seance" to be suggested as "séance," especially since it is a member of your dictionary. Screen shots included. Thanks mucho-- m

MRU->TL: in SO this works perfectly, but in OO these words are not offered as correction in spellcheck dialog respective spellcheck cotext. Though "cliché" (with accent) will not be marked as misspelled, it will not be offered as replacement for "cliche" (without accent).
TL->Kevin: OOo specific. Please have a look. Thanks!
This can be easily solved by adding the following to all EN affix files: MAP 7 MAP aÅáâäà MAP cç MAP eêéè MAP oóöô MAP uüû MAP nñ MAP iíï I included only those accented chars which actually occur in EN (US/GB) myspell dictionaries as of now.
@nemeth: this is yours, I think. I can include actual patches, but it should be obvious to you what to do with this.
not a patch issue (no patch attached)
