Description punisher 2005-02-12 08:04:21 UTC
Would it be possible either to add a preview to the "Paragraph Style" dialog? I
find the dialog less intuitive than the Microsoft Word one; thus, rather than
having to make changes and click OK, thus trashing the dialog and having a
person have to repeatedly go back when the formattting does not look right, it
would be nice to have a preview like Microsoft Word does. If this is too
complicated, having an apply button might be a compromise. Though, having a
preview would certainly be a lot more efficient and a lot less confusing to the
end user.

Actually this is not a duplicate of 41717.

Issue 41717 was about the Stylus. This one is not. This report is about the
"Paragraph Style", which is different. The "Paragraph Style" is where you go to
tweak or add style, such as whether is numbered, what font it has, etc.

If this is still not clear and you would like a screenshot of what I am
referring to, please let me know.  But please understand, it is not the stylus;
thus, it is not a duplicate of 41717

I have attached a screenshot to this report that shows what the Microsoft Word
2000 equivalent looks like. Notice the preview.

Thanks

OK, now it is clear, what you desire. A kind of preview in the Format.Paragrah /
Paragraph style dialog.

Issue still exists in OpenOffice 3.0 beta, but if you want to close it, go
ahead, as it doesn't look like it's likely to be addressed anytime soon.

I don't think that we will implement this issue exactly as requested but
improving the editing of styles is on my list.
