Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 4647
Wrong hotkeys in text-formatting toolbars
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:00:01 UTC
This is for Spanish version. Formatting toolbar has "N", "C", "S" respectively for "Negrita" (Bold), "Cursiva" (Italic), "Subrayado" (Underline). Hot keys to call this functions, by default, are Ctrl+N (ok), Ctrl+I (meant to be in english) and Ctrl+U (also in english). It means a little rearranging defaults, but it would be better to have a consistent hotkey selection: Ctrl+N, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+S, all referring to the spanish terms, and icons shown on the tool buttons.
When there are collisions with VERY common shortcuts, one has to decide what to do... For instance: In French, "underline" is "souligné", but even Word left it to Ctrl-U (=underlined) Have a look at the collisions you brought up: Ctrl-C = "Copy" and Ctrl-S = "Save". Please verify if THESE are as common in Spanish as they are elsewhere. What do other applications do in Spanish? Please comment. SBA->MT: Include CJ or FT if there is no "easy" solution for this. Reassigned to Malte.
Assume "Ctrl" before every hotkey: MS Word English C: Copy V: Paste S: Save U: Underline I: Italic B: Bold N: New document MS Word Spanish C: Copy (Copiar) V: Paste (Pegar, probably retained for uniformity throughout Win) G: Save (Guardar, very popular in other applications) S: Underline (Subrayar) K: Italic (why K? Can't guess, but toolbar icon is also K) N: Bold (Negrita) U: New document (documento nUevo... imagination fizzled ;) ) C, V, G, S, K, N are all consistent thorughout Spanish MS Office and other non-MS applications, not so with U, but close enough. Need more info? Tell me what else. Thanks.
MT: Ctrl+C is 'copy' on every system in every language, so Ctrl+C can't (better: shouldn't) be used for anything else.
The shortcut localization is not possible today, because we have no central configuration for _all_ shortcuts used in OOo today and the current configuration does not support more than one setting per shortcut and not different mappings at all. We need to fully localize these issues, because if we move one we can have the next being used twice. To solve this, we need a new central configuration as planned by Carsten Driesner.
FL->Translation: I do not know how to procced with this one. Please advise what to do. Tank you.
These functions (Ctrl+X) cannot be set/defined/changed by L10N. L10n can only define the (Alt+X) functions
according to http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=releases&msgNo=7690 this issue will be set to OOoLater
