Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 58858
Table borders not correct if table wraps to next page
Last modified: 2014-05-14 14:53:47 UTC
There seem to be 2 issues with table and cell borders: Whenever you have a table with table and cell borders, only complete cells should have a border at the bottom. If you have a table whose cells wrap partly to the next page, the part of the cell on the first page should not have a border, since it is not a complete cell. If you look at the screenshot (bug-table-border-1.png) and accompanying document, you will see that the third row of the table begins on the first page and continues on the second. The table in the text has borders, and the third row should only have a border at the end of the row, but NOT in the middle, not even at the end of the page. In the document, a line appears at the bottom of the page that shouldn't (red X on the first screenshot). On the next page, there is no border at the top of the page - CORRECT: it is only a continuation of the same row/cells. Another problem with table and cell borders (has existed at least since Staroffice 5 and may have been reported elsewhere): As you can see in the second screenshot (bug-table-border-2.png), the cells have borders and the last row of the table goes to the next page. IMHO, the topmost row on the second page should also have borders, since it is a row of complete cells - no part of the cells is on the previous page. Will attach archive

confirmed on Windows XP Pro SP2 with OOo 2.0.1 RC2; please file a new issue for the second problem
MRU->FME: by time we should really consider Writer's algorithm of displaying (or not) top borders of a table on a page break. The current behaviour is not really intuitive. See the attached screenshots.
I confirm the strange behavior of the borders in te table on Windows XP with OOo 2.0.4. I hope for the end-users this issue will get some attention in the near future.
New users will very quickly be confronted with this bug. It makes OpenOffice.org look messy and inferior. It is obvious this is the wrong impression. Such a shame!
Nothing seems to have happened here in the last 7 years! I'm running up against issue 2 (no top border following page change) - this really makes OO look very amateurish.
