Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 59458
WW8: graphics placed wrong when exported
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:20:03 UTC
A document ODT saved as DOC results in formatting problems, when readed in OO or Word 2003. The two documents are attached. Thank you Michel Gesztesi
Created attachment 32499 [details] the odt file is the original and the doc file is the converted
confirmed on Windows XP Pro SP2 with OOo 2.0.1 RC5
MRU->FLR: when exported and opened ion MS Word, the graphics are all place below the wrong paragraphs.
1. I reproduced the defect with OOo 2.0.1 and Window XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2 and Microsoft Office Word 2003((11.6502.6408) sp1, Part of Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003). Please see the below steps for reproducing: 1.1. I unzipped the zip file attached by the reporter. 1.2. I opened the .opt file with Writer and saved it as new MS word document (Select file menu->save as ->choose Microsoft word 97/2000 doc) 1.3. I opened the newly saved doc file and found the graph was indeed on the wrong place, but the graph can be easily moved to the correct place without any information loss. 2. I tested a few other cases: 2.1 I saved .opt file as a Microsoft Word 6.0(.doc), Microsoft Word 97/2000/xp (.doc) and Microsoft Word 95(.doc) document respectively, found the graph was put in wrong place in all 3 version of MS word doc files and the graphs are in almost same wrong position in those files. 2.2 I adjusted position of graphs in .doc files to make their layout exactly same as they were in the original opt file. Then, I saved them again. After reopened these different version .doc file with OOo 2.0.1 Writer, I found all graphs kept unchanged, i.e., not in wrong place 2.3 In addition, when I saved the original .opt file as Microsoft Word (.doc) files, OOo 2.0.1 writer gave a warning to remind user that there is the format problem to do so. So, I guess that this format problem of OOo 2.0.1 writer may not belong to potential bug but feature defect.
