Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 59967
Incorrect char spacing in drawing text objects in Writer
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:44:35 UTC
Hi, I find following mistake in graphics text object, as rectangle or graphic text frame, in Writer: For some win basics fonts (especially Arial, 5-6pt sized), used inside graphic text frame or rectangle, when file is reopen, broke down char spacing and line spacing. For demonstrating I attach two files. Thanks Tomas Bilek

Created attachment 32849 [details] Wrong char spacing, especially in pair "ko" "st" "tr" in .odt
I can confirm that the attached odt exhibits some unusual narrow char spacing in the framed objects, so confirmed on Windows XP Pro SP2 with OOo 2.0.1
MRU->FME: I do not know if this is a Writer or more a Draw issue. But fact is, that it looks, that the text in the drawing text objects is displayed with a wrong character spacing. In OO 1.x the difference between body text and text in the object was not this heavy.
FME->HDU: Any idea what's going on here?
@tombil: Thank you very much isolating this problem and for the great sample document, which made reproducing and debugging this much easier. @fme: the "normal" text is formatted using the reference device. The textbox text is formatted for the display device at 100% zoom, but displayed at 270% zoom in the bugdoc. In numbers: the 120twips font is 720 pixels on the Writer refdev => nice formatting. The font is 8 pixels high on the textbox's refdev (a screendev with 100% zoom) but 23 pixels for real screendevice (which in the bugdoc is set to 270% zoom) => rounding issues aplenty...
