Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 63384
Labels: Applying format to single frame changes whole page, and can't undo
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:22:29 UTC
I create a new document, which is a single page of labels. I select the frame for a single label. If I apply formatting to it (e.g., a border or background color), the formatting is applied to the whole page, as opposed to the single label, as I would expect. Strangely, there is no option to undo the formatting. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: See above

It works as designed. The frame style "labels" has the checkbox "AutoUpdate" marked by default. If you do not like, that a direct formatting changes the frame style and so effects all other frames, you must uncheck it. Open "style and formatting"-window (F11), category "Frames". Rightclick on "Labels", modify... Go to tab "Organizer", there you find that checkbox. To undo the change, you must alter the style.
Making the change you suggested did the trick. I will say I think this is rather un-intuitive, and suspect most people would expect the opposite behavior. Regardless of which the default is, it would be nice to have an option for this in the File / New / Labels dialog box. I sould suggest this go in the Options tab, in the "distribute" section, directly under "Synchronize Contents". I'm not sure what the exact wording would be, but maybe "Synchronize Formats", or "Apply format changes to all labels." Thanks for the help, and for listening. :)
Changed from defect to enhancement.
