Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 64190
Input field displaying ignores non-breaking space
Last modified: 2014-02-19 11:09:22 UTC
If input field contains unbreakable space (U+00A0), the space is ignored when wrapping text to next line.
I checked with "2.0.2 German version WIN XP: [680m5(Build9011)]" and can not confirm that problem, pls. see attached 'testile.odt'. @pmike: Pls specify your Platform and OS! Pls. contribute your own test document and a detailled step by step instruction how to reproduce the problem.

@pmike: Additional question: do you really observe that only in WRITER?
"Was on the wrong steamer" ;-) I checked with "2.0.2 German version WIN XP: [680m5(Build9011)]" and confirm that problem for 'testfile.odt'.
Created attachment 35595 [details] new, additional test file confirming results from 'testcase.odt'
Reassigned to ES.
Yes, such fields cannot support such characters. "Works as undesigned"... Reassigned
If you insert a user field formatted as a french currency the string to display looks like "150 000,00 €" and must contains nonbreakable spaces. With OOo, such strings may be broken when the line is wrapped to next line. I've tryed to use a user defined format containing nonbreakable space, without success. I've tried to work only with strings, and replaced spaces with nonbreakable space via a macro when affecting the value to a user field, without success. Nonbreakable spaces within amounts are mandatory in french areas. So I think that not supporting such characters in user fields should be considered as a defect. Best regard, Ph.
This bug makes impossible to write properly and its not only think of french currency. Most slavic languages forbid splitting of lines after specific prepositions. Therefore I think it cannot be considered an trivial issue.
