I'm using BrOffice 2.2.1 but this behaviour exists for a long time.

There are some words that I allways type wrongly so I like to put these words in
the auto correction but there is an extra step that I think just shouldn't exist.
Step by step:
Open Writer
Be sure that orthographical verification is on
Mistype a word (since I'm using pt-BR I'll write "pultima" that is a common
mistake I make instead of "última")
The word will have a red underline to show that it is wrong
Select that word
Click with the rigth button of the mouse and select "copy"
Now go to the menu "tools" and click on "autocorretion"
In the substitute tab the mistyped word is in the "by" part and you have to
delete that, write the mistyped word in the "Substitute" part and the write the
correct word in the "by" part.

I think that it would be better if when you copied a mistyped word it would
appear in the "Substitute" part instead. In this case you just would have to
write the correct word in the "by" part.

See the attached screenshot.

Well let's say "you don't work the way one canexpect a user will" ;)
I think the feature has been design expecting this behavior:
- user makes mistake
- corrects it
- selects the *corrected* word
- choose to add it to the list.

One could think about a mechanism like:
- is the selected word marked as wrong -> appears in the left field in the dialog.
- is the selected word not marked -> appears in the right field in the dialog.
