Description haimk 2008-08-11 01:56:12 UTC
Macintosh, OS 10.4.3, Latvian keyboard, font TimesCERoman.
When I need to enter a "diacritic" Latvian character, for example, a "long
a" ("ā") [using the Latvian keyboard - "option - a"], I get a totally different
character ("Ç"). Textedit permits me to enter the proper character. Of course,
I can "insert - special character", but this is a very inconvenent way to do
that.

My bug 109952 was marked as having the same underlying cause as this bug. So I
am attaching my Windows keyboard driver here for easier replication of the problem.
If you install the keyboard (called Francais+, known to work on XP, Vista and
Win 7) and enable it for the French language:
Pressing AltGr+B should give an e with dot below and acute accent above.
It does in Microsoft Windows.. but in Openoffice 3.2, it still gives just e with
dot below - it was the same for OO 3 and before.
Pressing AltGr then a key seems to result in maximum one diacritic on a letter.

This duplicate bug 92641 has been around a loooooong time. Any target for fixing it?
It means that Tuareg languages can't be typed in vowelled Tifinagh script or
M3emmer Latin script, and OpenOffice is an important platform for these languages.

OS=ALL due to DUP

May be I will find the time to check that problem next days.

We would get progress some faster with a sample document (table showing key combination, expected result, OO result and cell for own test), good step by step instruction, how to reproduce that without Latvian keyboard and language knowledge with a German or English Keyboard and OS.
