Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 98332
Helping the user to have spell checking working
Last modified: 2014-02-24 18:20:56 UTC
a. If checking a text region which has a language which does not have a Dictionary it should display a message to let you know that it is bypassing the spell check as Word does. Never should just open and close the Spell Checking dialog as actually. c. It should have a default dictionary installed for each installation Language and use that if not better choice is available. Example Spanish (spain), if it is the spanish install (binary) version, if you happens to be in spanish (mycountry), well it should use the default spanish (spain) instead of not checking at all the document. Lets call it a sensible default. c. Better help and hints for the end user will be very much appreciated as to let you know you don't have Dictionaries installed and how to install one. d. In new documents in Tools - Language - For Selection | For Paragraph | For All Text; it should not display weird languages that have nothing to do with your locale neither with the installed dictionaries. For example in Spanish installation it also lists Portugue and Swedish, but those are not installed, not used in the document (remember it is a new Spanish document as the default document type).
