Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 87903
Unable to reformat endnotes
Last modified: 2008-04-08 09:56:03 UTC
Hello. I'm using OpenOffice.org to do a research paper. My school has strict formatting requirements, and so far I've been able to comply with all of them on OOo, and regularly recommend it to friends with templates showing how I did it. Unfortunately, I've hit the showstopper: Endnotes. Endnotes work great, mind you, they just won't let me format them. The periods in the numbers for the endnotes must line up, as well as the text after them, throughout the entire document. So, I did what I did last time the school required this: I set a decimal tab of .75" and a left tab of .94". However, this didn't work for endnotes. I couldn't move in front of the number and press tab to align the dot with the tab, nor could I remove the number and type it in myself. I did a first-line indent, but that lines up the first number with every first number; double-digits have their periods out of alignment. This is a big problem, and, while I can do the rest of this paper in OOo, I will unfortunately have to borrow a friend's computer with Windows and MS Office on it to finish the paper. I really don't want to have to do it, but as long as "." characters in fields don't line up with decimal tabs like they do in text, I can't format endnotes properly.
